A Shield is an item found in Mario Kart Arcade GP, Mario Kart Arcade GP 2, and Mario Kart Arcade GP DX. Once the player obtains one through an Item Box, the shield is displayed as an item. When the player uses it, they will be temporarily immune from the effects of other players' items. Unlike the temporary shield that can be used by drifting, this type of shield will last much longer.

- The shield's design, with a gold frame and a chevron on a solid color background, resembles the shields found in The Tower of Druaga, a game created by Namco, who developed the Mario Kart Arcade GP games.
